"Super Mom"

Being a stay at home mom can be rough. However, it never starts out that way. For me, it usually starts out great. I wake up around 6am. Do a few things around the house, have a brief conversation with my husband before he leaves for work, and start working on my projects. I usually feel great! But as the day goes on, more and more energy begins to drain from my tank. I’m a stay at home mom of four wonderful children. I honestly can’t imagine how my life would be without them. They bring so much joy to my life. Now that that’s out the way…I can continue. Though my children are the sweetest little humans ever, they can work a nerve like nobody else can! By 11am I’ve already broken up several arguments, cleaned a couple of bottoms, washed pee stained sheets (still working on potty training my three-year-old), listened to complaints about who’s doing what, and fulfilled countless requests. By the time 3 o’clock rolls around, I am completely drained and running on empty. With that comes bouts of depression, guilt, and doubt. I feel tremendous guilt and sadness that I can’t be “Super Mom”. I try so hard to be the perfect mom who never gets tired or frustrated. But the reality is, “Super Mom” doesn’t exist. She was just some mythical character created to make real moms feel less than. Psalm 46:1 tells us that God is our refuge and our strength and a very present help in time of trouble. It occurred to me, since God is our strength, we have no need to be “Super Mom”. He’s got us covered! God is all powerful and all knowing! So if you’re a mom like me, feeling down because you feel you can’t do it ALL; rest assured that God has given you all the tools you need to fulfill the purpose He has appointed to you. When you’re running on empty and feeling frustrated, look to Him for a refill. God is always there with you. During those moments of frustration, take a deep breath and begin to pray to God for peace and direction. He’s got you!
