Chocolate Covered Strawberries!
Nothing says "I love you" more than a gift made with your own two hands! I gift my chocolate strawberries year around and they're always a big hit! Give these a try and be creative!
Here's what you'll need:
1 bag milk chocolate chips
1 bag white chocolate chips
2 Tbsp. shortening (divided)
12 large strawberries
12 toothpicks
2 piping bags
1 Styrofoam block
(Optional ingredient)
1 bag dark chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Rinse strawberries and pat dry with a paper towel.
2. Place chocolate chips in two small bowls (one for the white and one for the milk chocolate).
3. Add 1 Tbsp. of shortening to 1 cup of chocolate chips.
4. Melt in the microwave, stirring every thirty seconds until chocolate is smooth.Repeat with white chocolate.
5. Stick a toothpick in the top of each strawberry for easy handling.
6. Holding the leaves up, dip each strawberry in chocolate using a rolling motion.Bump against the side of the bowl to knock off excess chocolate.
7. Stick each strawberry into the foam block to allow chocolate to set.(For Decorating)
*Spoon several spoonfuls of chocolate into a piping bag. Push the chocolate down in the bag with your hand and twist it closed. Cut the very tip of the bag and decorate each strawberry how you like! Be creative! Serve and enjoy!
*Tip: You can also dip these in nuts or candy pieces. Have fun!
